...work in progress...
17/3/08 - audio effect added to full game
In the end I went with my original script and did figure it all out... The active area each side is almost the full half of the screen width - sound effects are added to enhance the game (as originally planned and confirmed by the user testing). One final addition was added in the form of a visual element introduced along with the added sounds (the rainbow being a specific request :).
Three revised samples ready for day2 of user testing:
full game ['drums']
full game ['boing']
full game ['rainbow']
3/3/08 - levels 1-3 working
thanks to Simon's file - I've now got the 3 levels setup and working
→ demo: levels 1-3
FLASH FILES:
→ download flash files from Simon
→ download new demo (levels 1-3) - Flash versions 8 + 9
PLEASE NOTE: at the moment the key press needs to be very accurate and be executed at precisely the right moment. I've tried changing the active hit area to cover more of the screen space either side but didn't manage it yet :'( For this to work for our target group - I think we will need the responsive area to be much larger, more like shown here on the screenshot:

1/3/08 - new sample setup - thanks, Simon ;)
Simon comes to the rescue with the scripting of the multiple levels...
→ Simon's demo: levels 1-3
25/2/08 - the story so far
I managed to get our colour change, ie demo: level 1 (only) done and setup - but got completely stuck with level2... I will ask Simon to help - thanks for the offer, Simon :)
So here are the demo files: version1 (working) - version2 (almost there)
→ download flash files (v9)
→ download flash files - Flash Version 8
CONTENT:
- v1.fla: level 1 of game

- colour change set up in movieclip [instance name: colours]
- 2 black bars (player 1 and 2) set up as movieclip [instance name: players]
- player bars activated by keyPress: left=spacebar - right=enter key (AS within MC)
- active screen area 0-350px and 450px-800px across, leaving 100px of inactive area in the centre
One last thing... if anyone can solve this one for me - I'll be smiling all day.... ;)
As in the subheader on the main page - I tried to use the 2 arrows, one left, one right pointing in the document title. But no matter what I do - I am getting this strange character after the first arrow (as you can see in this window)...?! any ideas anyone...?
